Day 1
Arusha to Miriakamba Hut
Begin your adventure with a drive from Arusha to the entrance of Arusha National Park. The journey starts with a scenic hike through lush forests, offering the chance to spot giraffes, buffaloes, and various bird species. The trail gradually ascends, providing beautiful views of the surrounding landscape as you make your way to Miriakamba Hut, situated at 2,514 meters (8,250 feet). Enjoy dinner and rest for the night, surrounded by the serene beauty of the mountain.
Day 2
Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
After breakfast, continue your ascent through the forest, transitioning into the moorland zone. The hike becomes steeper as you approach Saddle Hut, located at 3,570 meters (11,712 feet). Along the way, take in the stunning views of Little Meru and the expansive plains below. Upon arrival at Saddle Hut, you'll have the option to take an acclimatization hike to the summit of Little Meru at 3,820 meters (12,533 feet), offering a glimpse of what’s to come. Return to Saddle Hut for dinner and an early night's rest.
Day 3
Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak to Arusha
Wake up early, around midnight, for the final ascent to the summit. Climb through the night, navigating the rocky trail with the help of your guide. Reach Socialist Peak at 4,562 meters (14,968 feet) in time to witness a breathtaking sunrise, with panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscapes. After soaking in the majestic scenery, begin your descent back to Saddle Hut for a short rest and breakfast. Continue descending to Miriakamba Hut and finally to the park gate, where your vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Arusha, concluding your unforgettable 3-day Mount Meru climb.
